Palo Santo- also known as the wood of Saint's, or holy wood In Spanish, the name literally means “Holy Wood”, it is Native to South America. The tree is called Bursera Graveolens which is considered a mystical tree and is relative to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. It is part of the citrus family which gives it the sweet notes of pine, mint and lemon.
Directions to burning Palo Santo:
1. Take a stick of the holy wood and light it with the flame from a candle, match or lighter, which ever you prefer.
2. Allow the Palo Santo stick to burn for 30 seconds to a minute, then carefully blow it out, or you may wave it enough to extinguish the flame.
3. Move around the space in which you desire to clear the energy - be it your bedroom, office, car or your entire home , allowing the smoke to waft around the area.
4. If you are burning it with intention to cleanse an item or your body, you would use the same notions as above in #3 while being mindful to not touch the wood on the item or skin, but allowing the smoke to engulf the area.
